Need more info.
If the PCV system is functioning properly and the crankcase pressure is excessive then it's probably piston related (bad rings, damaged piston, etc.) Compression is leaking past the piston, into the crankcase.

The internal engine pressure will cause massive leaks if you do not have it vented or hooked to a PCV system.

unless you have a road draft tube from the intake then you need a pcv system of some sort. the early car fe's had that, but i dont think any windsors did. both valve covers should have a vent even if you don't use a pcv valve. something as simple as breather style fill caps will work.

Ye old road draft tubes ouch. The early small block V-8s had them as did the 144, and 170 I6. I had a 63 Falcon 170 I-6 that had pcv but a friend with a 62 Falcon and 144 did not. By 65 my friends with Mustangs had PCV but my factory racer 67 390 fastback had two breathers from the factory and a friend that had a Factory 68 Torino racer with 428 also had 2 breathers.

Two breathers were a mess as all engines breath a little oil out so it was all over the valve covers and was part of the daily clean wax tune that kept the factory racers as super sleepers on the street.

With pcv you will only want one breather on the opposite side of the engine, As far from the breather as possible.

With the pcv setup hooked up take the oil fill cap off and while the engine is idling if it's smoking out the oil fill hole in the valve covers theres not much you can do to fix it except rebuild it. Valve seals and rings are leaking by or the PCV system isn't drawing any air...
