Motor mounts
Anyone know what the proper torque is for the bolts that hold the motor mount brackets to the block on a 460, and also the bolts that go through the isolators?

Re: Motor mounts
Good evening Tim,
Are the bolts that hold the 460 mounts to the block also 7/16-14 bolts? If so, I'd imagine that 50 ft/lbs would be a good amount of torque for them.
Are the bolts that run through your isolators held by nuts on the far sides, and are those nylon-insert locknuts?
If yes on both counts, the torque value may not be super critical there. I asked John at Autofab about the torque on those huge bolts and nuts, and he said that I should just make them good and tight, and that it wasn't critical. I think that's because the forces upon them aren't trying to make them pull out of the insulators in that way.
The last time I put those bolts and nuts together on my setup, I set them to 35 or 40 ft/lbs, if I remember correctly.
I wish you good fortune with this Tim!

While I'm not sure about a 460 per se, the 1972 Ford Truck Shop Manual calls for 45-55 ft/lbs on the 7/16-14 bolts that hold the motor mounts to the sides of the FE block.OldRedFord wrote:Anyone know what the proper torque is for the bolts that hold the motor mount brackets to the block on a 460

Are your isolators the same style as mine? Here are mine: http://www.robroygregg.com/Number50/IMG_9871s.JPGOldRedFord wrote:and also the bolts that go through the isolators?

Sounds great!OldRedFord wrote:The are 7/16 bolts. Ill go 50 ft/lbs then.
Oh, I see! I'm totally unfamiliar with those. Perhaps somebody has access to a 1973-up Ford truck manual with that spec in it!OldRedFord wrote:My isolators look like these.
