motorcraft 2100 question

Post by creeped out 67 »

Hey guy's I'm messing with a motorcraft 2bbl 2100 series .Pretty normal for a ford pickumup.
I keep blowing my power valve and don't really don't know why.I pulled the top off the valve and it was full of gas ,I don't know if that is normal but i've been told that it isn't.What I understand is the valve only opens up when the passing gear is in use or just high rpms
If anyone has any input please help out
thanx

Hey thanx for the info ,I went to the auto parts place and got a power valve for a holley it is rated for 6.5 .I'll throw that in and see what happens.I pulled the valve covers off the other day because the engine had a knocking from the valve cover area and was running pretty rough. When I pulled the covers off everything seemed cool so I readjusted the valve lash thinking the rocker arms were loose and found I had a couple very slightly bent rods(within 0.030) so I replaced the push rods and ran it .The ticking went away but was still running rough, although it was only affecting one side of the engine! I reset the engine timeing and still running rough.I pulled the ventri booster out and blew it out with compressed air, threw it back in and the idle is much better it would explain how the engine only missed out on one side.I'm hoping that when I replace the power valve the idle might get better if not I'll have to start looking deeper like a dead lifter or my cam starting to flatten out, YA!
