Adjustment

Post by 1970FordTK »

Wasn't really sure my question fit here but its about the factory points distributor on a 390 67-72 truck. Inside the vacuum advance nipple, what is the factory setting for the Allen headed adjustment inside the nipple?

I was thinking if you have not done this before put a tee with vac. gauge on manifold vac. ftg. between vac. source and distributor vac. advance see what it is advancing then use allen wrench to change advance rate,I do not recall witch way to turn it

Thanks Eggman, was helping a friend trouble shoot a problem with his 390. With it sitting and just reving it out of gear (automatic) it seemed to be advancing fine. Once in gear and driving, it acted very different but the vac. was within spec.(so no normal vac leaks) So I checked the vac. advance in the dissy, allen head adjustment was all the way clock wise to the stop. Thanks for the chart specs. that should help out with setting it.
