Holley 3310s

Post by mpuvdd »

I'm considering buying and mounting a new 750 cfm 3310 on my mildly-built 429 bb. The engine is bored .06 over to 441 ci and has 9:1 compression with a mild cam and stock Dove C heads. I have a few questions:

1. Is this a good setup or do I need more/less cfm etc.? Is it easily upgradeable/easy to tune?

2. Will it fit on a Weiand Stealth Intake manifold or does it need an adapter?

3. Do you recommend another/better carb for this setup? Maybe a double pumper?

Thanks a lot for the input guys

I am running 750 3310 on my .040 over 390 manifold is C5AE 94?? cam is nice low mid rpm tow package, moor cfm's than I need, but a 600 on this motor was not enough.750 might be about right for your displacement :2cents:

Get the cams and springs kit from Holley and all should be ok for ya. I had one on my 67 Mustang with a roller cam 289 with 69 351 heads on it, weiand stealth, mated up to my C-4 trans... wouldn't idle for scheisse, but pulled like a m-f er up to 7k. I had found (back then) a kit called Dial-A-Jet, you could dial in up or down 2 jets for weather etc. It worked great too. Had to drill 1/8" holes in the primary plates to get it to idle half way decent on the little engine.

Double pumper on your truck would be overkill! I have been looking at the Edelbrock carbs for my truck...

Double pumper carbs are not recommended on heavy, auto trans cars unless accompanied with at least a 3500 stall converter. No adapter is necessary on a Stealth manifold but I would suggest a phenolic spacer to combat heat soak.

Tuning will be necessary, but once it is tuned it will be consistent...at least in my experience it has been

A 3310 is a decent carb, but I think a street avenger is a better buy...

I see nothing wrong with a 3310. Same carb that I will run. No you will not need a adapter for the Stealth.

Ya, well it sounds like a good carb for mild tunability and price range (like $296 from Holley). My engine's cam has .49" In. and .516" Ex valve lift. Anyway, I'll probably try the carb out and, if need be, try using the Dial-A-Jet kit (though it looks like they only make them for mikuni's and small engine carbs???), as far as Edelbrock goes, I already have a bunch of parts to tune Holleys, so that makes no sense. But ya, I'll repost to tell you guys how this carb compares to my aluminum 4011 carb.

3310 should be a nice fit for you engine. I have to say if you or anybody else reading this goes with a Street Avenger and have ANY tuning problems check the base for flatness. I went through 3 brand new ones from Autozone and all had badly warped bases. Shamed me as I have always recommended Holleys

Yeah, the Dial-A-Jets are no more... I should have pulled it off when I sold the Mustang, it worked awesome!

If you have the goods and know how to massage a carb to work, then you should have no problem. I had issues since I had such a small engine, but a large engine will do well.

Good Luck!
