302 Engine Mounting

Post by LET »

I'm needing to set my 302 5.0HO into my 53 pickup. I've put a 1972 Monte Carlo front clip on the truck. Just looking for ideas as to how I need to make the two match up. Hopefully someone has done this before and can be of some help.

Sounds to me like everything will have to be custom fabbed.

A chebby front end on a Ford truck, why didn't you just use a Mustang front end?! Image

Little too late to edit / once copied. Guys...I promise in the future to keep my "die - hard Ford" deragatory chebby statements to myself!

Welcome to the forum.

:wel:

I think you are going to have to fabricate the mounts...

LET,

Sorry man, just can't see why anyone would take the best selling / running / available truck in America and throw chebby parts at it. Ford became famous for it's F-series trucks independent suspension. chebby has attempted to copy it for many years now with nothing but failed attempts. You could easily had put a Crown Vic or many other Ford products front under it, (advise on looking here on the forum at what several other members have done). What will you do with the two different wheel patterns now?

Please do not post offerers to sell or to buy on tech threads, see:

I belive the 53 Ford trucks had no IFS. I do not think that came about till 1965 or 1966? When the Twin-I-Beam came out.

Good point on the wheel patterns. Will look funky.
