Hello,
Well I am totally stumped. the truck has been workin faithfully for years and years. Now recently she's a stumblin real bad under acceleration.
Once it gets up to speed like 30 MPH, and on the flat (no hills) it is fine, but goin up hills and acceleration it stumbles...
Feels like starvin' for fuel...
I check all the usual tune up and trouble shootin procedures: timing, points, spark plugs, coil, distributor, cap, rotor, wires, votages, I even rebuilt the carb (an Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm)
with no change what so ever in the symptoms.
The last thing i'm wonderin is (perhaps there are more and hopefully someone knows what I didn't think of) : is there a fuel filter built-in to
the fuel pump? it looks like a minature version of a spin-on oil filter. Can I unscrew this bad boy and dump out gunk which I think
is my problem?
1971 F100 302 engine, Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm carb, Edelbrock intake, everything else is stock.
is there a fuel filter built-in to the fuel pump?

not in the 302 fuel pump there isnt. i had a buick do the same thing top me almost. i would run ok until yo uneeded power and then it would give you nothing unless you fought it. 1 spark plug wire was bad. is all it was.

Yes, there is. There's a canister fuel filter on the bottom of the fuel pump and an inline fuel filter going into the carb.

ok i am used to seeing the 351m and 400 pumps. i thought they were the same pump. i guess i was wrong. heres the 302 pump for a 71 F100 2wd with 302. its the middle picture. the can on the bottom is the fuel fitler housing.
