Welcome to FORDification. :wel:

Is the engine getting fuel ? Can you look down into the crab & actually see the jets squirting fuel into the carb ? Also, if its the same carb thats been sitting for 15 years, I would put it past it to be clogged & varnished up. Is it getting fire from the coil to the plugs ?

The distributor rotates counter-clockwise. Firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Cylinders are numbered 1,2,3,4 on passenger side starting in the front, 5,6,7,8 on driver's side, starting from front.

I'll try to find the FE firing order diagram.

make sure the crank points to zero. then see if the rotor is pointing to the left of the rear clip of the dist. then slowly turn the enigne by hand and see if the rotor turns at all or how soon it does turn. or if it has a moment or two before it turns.

do you think maybe the battery isnt strong enough because before i bought a battery for the truck i used my battery from my 05 f150 and it fired up a couple of times for a few seconds?

the reason the motor wont start is because its been sitting for 15 years and the rings are dry and your not getting any compression, assuming you primed the engine by pulling the dist and got oil flowing through out the engine i would get some trans fluid in the cylinder to lube the cylinder walls and rings, if you have a ole oil can you can give it coulple pumps through the plug holes to help the rings seal. let it sit for a day or so to soak in a little, just hand tightn the plug to keep critters out. before trying to start again have a aftermarket oil pressure gauge hooked up so you know its got oil pressure. before trying to start put a little more trans fluid in the cylinders to help seal the rings when it starts. its going to smoke like a tar pot when it starts burning off the fluid on top of the piston for a little bit. if the engine was running when it was parked its going to run now unless something went bad from sitting. the reason its killing you battery is because the inside of the engine is dry as powder, instead of everything slideing with a film of oil its grinding metal to metal.

if the timing chain is brand new the rotor will turn immediately while turning the crank. but it probably has soem wear to it i am sure so it probably wont turn immediately. i was trying to figure out if it was parked because the timing chain had jumped maybe.

it was running when it was parked i found out the only reason it was parked was because they could not find a windshield wiper motor to get it inspected
