Recently asked about swapping out a ford 360 for the olds motor i had laying around, not a good responce but alot of good info to make me rethink that.
So I took your criticism and searched around a found a rolling chassis from a 63f100, has a 6clyinder and 3 speed. Would that be a straight swap or did the 63 have any differences in the frame or mounting systems.

Re: 360 swap out
www.fordtruk.com/forums i know nothing about the early 6 cylinders. they may not have mounting bosses on the blocks for our trucks. they usually are mounted in by a front and rear eninge mounting system.

Just curious - you are interested to change out an FE for an older 6 cylinder? Why? The 360 can easily be woken up or rebuilt stock with parts that are readily available.

Re: 360 swap out
I don't know why you would won't to go with a 63 and a three speed, it would be much easier to find a 67 on to mid 90s 300 and get a four or five speed out of the deal.
Also if your really interested in the Olds swap ill try and dig up the link of a guy who has a 65 with an Olds motor in it.

Re: 360 swap out
The 223 six that is in the 63 is a dinosaur and isn't near as powerful or adaptable as a 300 from a newer truck (65-96 300cid). There is a reason the 300 was around for more than 30 years. Plus, you should be able to find a good running one for around $500 or less since there are so many of them around.

Re: 360 swap out
I agree with the above post.
My first Ford F100 had the 223 I-6. I would not want the engine back, Ford made a mistake there.
After you swapped I think you would realize it as well.
