How do Id the distributor on a 1970 240 cubic inch motor. I want to convert it from points to the Pertronix Ignition system.

Get a Duraspark and save the. They don't even know when ford stopped making the 240 and 300.

each ford distributor has number on th side of it. it will have the numbers 12127. plus a few others. there also could be a tag on the dist. that tells what it is.

Why do you need to id the dizzy to convert it?
Well not all dizzys have a tag anymore and bead blasting like the re-builders do hide stamped in number.s

i seen a rebuilt dist out fo the box that had been bead blasted. it looked like cheese. little bb sized dents all on the outside of it. but you could read the numbers mostly.

thanks guys! If I go with the duraspark will I have to change the ignition module or can I use the one on the truch thats for the point dizzy?

What module for the points. We don't need no stinking module for the points, stock that is.
