Hey guys,
I've got a truck that belongs to my grandpa lined up to possibly restore to driving condition. The truck is a 69 Ford F100. Body is good -- frame solid, not rusted through anywhere. Transmission is good if memory serves me. The one big problem the truck has is its engine. It's an inline six -- don't remember if it's the 240 or the 300, but last time it ran it was only going on four cylinders. If it's the 300, I might keep the engine. The pistons are shot: there's oil leaking past the rings, and I think they need to be rebored or something -- maybe even bored out.
My question to you is this: if I were to put this old six back together, what would be the best way to go about it, especially if I did wind up boring it out?

If it's in the shape you say it is, what Knightfire recommended is pretty much the only way to go.
There's no "piecemealing" a worn out engine.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
That's not an oil leak
That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!
