I know it did. We used my Dad's 240 to take my 67 Factory racer Mustang to the track every Friday, Saturday and Sunday since I always won unless I broke. We disconnected the hoses and ran his truck one night before the races and lost .25 average on every pass. We gained it back with the hoses hooked up. So I tried it on another couple of weekends, as the track was on the side of a eastern ridge west of Denver the sun set early so I would do back to back runs before the racing started because the temperature drops real fast up there when you lose the sun. One with and then one without and every time without it would drop .25.
The carbs at that altitude had to be jetted richer every few passes as the night cooled off the air got really dense up there.
Edit: did you see the pic with the scoops for the hose?
We had one scoop like that under the right front bumper. Well it really rained hard and one hose was bent down and then up to the hood scoop the other hose went down to the bumper but both hoses had a dip in them more that 4 inches deep and they filled up with water in the low points and shut the motor off. i drained both hoses and we drove away.
If I do my truck I think I will hook them to the inner fender panels as there is less room for the hoses along the engine. That way they can get cool air from the wheel well tops. Just an angle on the under side to point them forward and not get water shot off the tires into the hoses. In the pictures they show a Chevelle with 2 headlights removed. What they found in 1970 or 1971 was that the front hoses in the grill area was not getting air rammed in because of the air bubble passing up over the hood if you had flat grilles. 69 Mustangs could do it because the hood stuck out. I was thinking a teardrop hood scoop for my truck as another way and hooking the hoses to the hood. A Tear Drop hood scoop mounted at the back of the hood gets high pressure air off the windshield. The Teardrop first came on the 1964 Thunderbolt Fairlanes. In 1968 L88 Corvettes got their air from the same place which was then followed by the Chevelle and the Camaro.

that's pretty sweet...my camaro ss has ram air and it definitely seems to make a bit of a difference at speed
