1972 Ford F100 charcoal canister

Post by 72Highboy »

Hello everyone

I have been looking online for charcoal canister for my 72 F100 but can find one. I was wondering could I just throw in a couple of KingsFord charcoal Briquets  into a cylinder made out of thin sheet metal and put a inlet tube so the vapor line can attach to it. :hmm:

Im kinda being serious because isn't that what all a charcoal canister is or am I wrong can anyone explain all the parts inside one?
Plus I can choose a variaty of KingsFord types: Regular, Mesquite, Competition, and Regular with Hickory

lol

If you're going to replace yours, it's as simple as getting bulk activated charcoal from your local aquarium shop.

Sorry, yah. Just build your can and use the activated charcoal from an aquarium supply store. As to your can, a cylinder with your inlet / outlet and perhaps a drip grommet or drain plug of some sort, in case you end up with loose moisture in the can. I'd also build the can to have the charcoal replaceable as it doesn't last forever.

the canisters are a emission piece. you dont ned it fo ranything. the tank vent hooks into it. and the extra fuel vapor goes fromt he tank through the canister and out into the air. it was supposed to be routed into the carb. but none of those are ever hooked up anymore.

I just want it for saftey purpose. Last time I had a full tank of gas and welded in a plate for the battery box. After that realized it was a bad idea to do that with with hose just open. Ill let you know when my tax return comes in and contact you if I want to buy it.
