Heya all, Have a F-100 witha fresh 460. Currently running points and want to know what upgrade options you all think would work best.
Just put headers, new Edelbrock Carb, Weiand Stealth intake, Lunati 61602 Cam with new valve springs and a new Radiator.
Not sure which way to go for ignition.. duraspark? MSD box? D.U.I. setup? I have read about them all and believe they would all work fine just wanted what you all would do... and maybe a reason why you would go one way or another..
Thanks all for input in advance, First post BTW.

Thanks for the reply.
Would you suggest a stock Duraspark or go with one from reincarnation? And which MSD box do you suggest?
Thanks

Re: Distributor Upgrade options
Get a MSD 6AL box. It has an adjustable revlimiter for some extra insurance. Great unit!

Re: Distributor Upgrade options
I would get one from reincarnation, that way it's gauranteed to be good and it will be recurved to your specific needs. I think I'm going to get one from them for my 300 build.

Re: Distributor Upgrade options
For me, I like the 6AL for it's rev limiter (I tend to need one now and then.
) You just plug in the chip that equals the rev limit you want to run.
However I like the 6AL-2 for the same features, PLUS full digital operation, PLUS no chips to plug in (just turn a lil dial to the limit you wish to run), PLUS "launch control" (a second rev limiter built in and programmed the same way, but only kicks in when you activate the circuit by pressing a button to hold you at launch RPM until you release it). This one's likely overkill for 99% of us, but we have a local drag strip that gives us "fun day / run what you brung" and I have a blast goofing off with a bunch of other people who are just there to have fun.
Then there's the end all of the 6A line in my opinion. (these options are excluding ignition controllers specifically built for boosted engines). The 6AL-2 PROGRAMMABLE! This one has all the same features of the standard 6AL-2, but is programmable from your laptop. You can adjust your curve per your engine / vehicle's specific setup. For this option, I STRONGLY recommend a fast read Wideband to avoid popping something you don't want popped. There are several options for wideband controllers. I currently use JAW (which doesn't seem to be available any more but here's one http://14point7.com/Widebands/NAW_7S/NAW_7S.htm that's a few steps up from mine. Not only will this help you in programming your ignition, but it will also allow you to tune your fuel system (carb or injected) much cleaner and easier without fear of the same popping badness.
