How Much $$ 360?

Post by BobbyFord »

I'm going to locally list my 360 that is in my truck. I'm almost ready to stuff the 460 in there. What do you guys think it's worth?
Here's what I know: According to the P.O., he bought it from the original owner with 60,000 original miles. The truck sat for 15 years. I bought the truck and drove it back from Arizona in late 2005. It leaked oil from everywhere. It sat in my driveway for a year.
I yanked the engine and here's what I replaced:
Rear main seal, Oil pump, Timing chain and gears, Water pump, Freeze plugs, Valve seals, Intake gasket, Oil pan gasket, Valve cover gaskets, Timing cover gaskets and front seal, Fuel pump, Thermostat, Cap, Roto,r Wires, Plugs.
I drove it about 50 miles since replacing the listed items and it has sat for another 2 1/2 years. It runs great, has excellent oil pressure and does not leak from anywhere.
What do y'all think it's worth, carb to pan?

$350 - $500 is what it would go for around here at least that was a couple years ago. With the economy in the shape it's in, hard to say if that's changed much. If it was in a vehicle and the buyer could hear it run would help keep the price up.

I think it's going to depend on the need. I had those three 360's listed for a long time for $100 each and only sold one and I had to put out some effort to get rid of the one.

I might be interested in yours.. I need to do the exact same thing to my 360.. I just wonder if costs would come to about the same if I simply bought yours and swapped into mine, or pulled mine and refreshed it... Interesting.

maybe we could meet up

I sold the last one, without the carb and without the fresh repairs for $400.

I put mine everywhere locally and online. It was a reman probably with less miles than yours. Just sat a little longer. Ran great. Started about 400 and ended up taking 250 I think. Finally sold it here as some here may remember having to start it on a tire. I'm in the south and these trucks are still everywhere on farms and work sites still being used so there was a market. Just need timing with someone needing a engine? I had some local calls but most were not able to handle the problem of installing and picking up the engine. Really didn't want to pay much either. I really doubt you get 400 but it's worth a try? Remember I sold it here

A 360 around here will get about $100 if you're lucky. Guys want 390's. You might be able to sell just the block for $200 and the heads for $150. I know it sounds crazy but you could honestly list those as 390 parts and they'd sell faster. :2cents:
