Newbie question from an oldie.... Will a car 390 block fit my 67 F100 frame with an oil filter adapter?
I should remember this, but I havent posted in forever, so ...

Yes, but if it's the 90°adapter you'll need to use the "shorter" filter.

Convincor's right! You can install an FE that has a car-style oil filter adapter on it in your truck, if you use a 3/4 quart oil filter, like the WIX 51068. (You have Flyboy2610 to thank for the part number.)
Here's a comparison of the stock filter size to the 3/4 quart size:

Here's the stock size installed vertically. Note that there's not really enough room to get an oil filter wrench on it, and depending on the engine stands you're using, it might not even clear the crossmember at all.

Here's the 3/4 quart size installed vertically. Plenty of room with this filter installed!

Here's the thread wherein my trial-and-error process is documented (on page two): #50's new engine 91% installed!

heres a pic of an adapter i have. it is a truck adapter not a car type. so you can use the right truck sized oil filter.
