How Much Work To Do An EFI??

Post by FordTruck »

I've got a rolled 91 Ford Bronco 4x4. I'm wondering how much work would it be to put that motor in my 72 Camper Special?? How much of a headache wil it be if I decide to try and stab it in there also will it be even more of a pain to put an NP435 behind it?

I don't think this is gonna buff!

AS for how much effort, it depends on your level of ability. I actually did one and used the donor truck wiring harness, The only major changes was to cut the ignition switch wiring and use a 78/79 ignition switch so it was still on the dash instead of the column and splice the instrument cluster plug. I just spliced the EFI wiring harness ignition switch wires to the the 78/9 plug. On the one I did they were even the same color codes so it was a cake walk. The instruments were also identical in format but the colors were different so I had to trace each one out but it really was easy. I already had a 79 tilt column so the turn signal plug was the same. It was amazing how simple it was. Hawkrod

It would be awesome I thought of doing the same so I could put in a 351W motor and M5R2 4X4 and Tcase. Putting a NP435 behind a newer engine would be hard because the bell housing wouldn't match or it might if they had a NP435 that was to a 302, but im pretty sure they didn't put 435's behind 302's. :hmm: I think they were the 3 on the tree or the automatic trans they used on those size engines. I think the more seasoned guys will know for sure here is something that might give a idea on what it might be like.

I wish I had a 4x4 I'd just put the whole overdrive trans and t-case in my truck. I put and NP435 behind the 302 in my 70 but I used the orignal 3spd bellhousing. The olny thing I'm worried about is the flywheel and the whole balance thing. And the wiring and fuel those are my main worries.
