could be. The truck was repainted once but I dont know when. I went to check out tires today and they are going up like crazy. A 235/75/15 is about $100 now. They said they are taxing the import tires higher now and the american companies are jacking there prices up also.

Oh yes, thats a clean Pick em up,I like the paint,I wouldnt change a thing, just clean it up,and repair the rust.the body is very straight, and you got to love the 4 spd,is that a NP-435? Id say you got a great deal, that Ford is in great shape, paint rear bumper, get a set of chrome rims,or what ever you like, throw some dual pipes on her, what do you say?I say its a keeper.

guys is there a way of setting the vacuum advance module. I put one on and it seems to have more power now but it pings after it warms up. My carb guy said the timing was correct at idle. Liking the truck quite a bit but need to get this figured out. I am worried about the temp that its running at now. seems a little warm by the gauge compared to before.

Dude,
I know what your saying,I just rodded out my radiator,,and put a epoxy-mil patch on both sides of the pinhole that was in the driver side tank,my radiator was clogged up so bad,it aint even funny,I rodded out each and every passage, then presure washed the crap out of it, now,the temp.is very cool, even after idleing down a long dirt road,in midday heat,it never got close to getting hot,Very good fix!!!and it was less than 5.00 dollars.

1st make sure that the vacuum advance module is connected to a ported vacuum source, not manifold vacuum.

Most vacuum advance modules are adjustable with a small allen wrench. You stick it thru the vacuum connection into an adjustment screw. Turn it one way it allows for more advancement, turn it the other and it limits the amount. The amount of turns to initially adjust it to factory spec. for your application should have been included on an instruction sheet with the new module.

You should double check your base timing after replacing or adjusting the advance module. It moves the breaker plate location inside the distributor.

I bought a new looking distributor from a junk yard and used the advance off it. A new one was $48 and I got this whole distributor for $20. I might have found my problem. My fuel pump is not pumping enough fuel all the time and sometimes when I check it there is none by eye in the clear filter. Maybe this is causing a lean problem and causing my overheating. I am going to change the pump now and put new fuel filters on to see what happens.
