On top of all the wonderful new parts I have gotten for my truck, I got a crazy gift for news years. A good friend of mine bought me some headers. She really does no alot about trucks and stuff but she got the right specs for the headers.

There are different Flowtech headers available. If they are the basic black painted ones, I think you are correct about the specs. However, the ceramic coated ones are 5/16" flange thickness. I do believe they still have 16 ga tubes, though. I ran some for a while and had no problems with them until I decided to do a little work on the ports, then had to weld the outside. Do NOT try to install them with a manifold gasket. It will not seal. The closest fit I found was a FelPro performance. FPP-1442, I think was the number. They are the blue gaskets. You should be able to get a set for around $25 at a local parts store. They probably came with some, though. Can't remember. Hope this helps.Ranchero50 wrote:Better than stock but...
For headers judge them by the header flange thickness (thicker don't leak as bad) and tubing gauge (16ga not so good, rust out faster or crack out 14ga is better). Other than fit issues that's the biggest thing for me. I think the flowtechs were 1/4" flange and 16ga thin tubing. The headmans were 5/16" and 14ga and last longer.

I should but some gaskets that are the blue type instead of the gray colored gasket that it came with.dustman_stx wrote: Do NOT try to install them with a manifold gasket. It will not seal. If they came with gaskets, they will probably work. Don't remember what mine originally came with. The 1442 is a good gasket, though, IMO. You might also want to get some of the spray copper gasket stuff(?) and coat the gaskets with that before installing. If you are using a stock size starter, I am almost positive the installation will go something like this (at least with the ones I had this worked): Remove existing exhaust system. Remove exhaust manifolds. Unbolt starter and remove. Place header down into position, but don't install any bolts. Replace starter while twisting around the header and holding tongue just right72Highboy wrote:It came with a summit invoice, when I looked it up this is the overview i should have put this in the first post.

One quick question when installing these headers the passenger side header do I have to remove the engine mount to put the header through.
