Yup, that distributor was not stock in any 1980's Ford. What are the numbers on the side. It will have a stamped number the cast number 12127 and another stamped number. It will be similar to this: D5TF-12127-B. get that number and I will tell you what it is from. It will also have a date code like 8J23. Hawkrod

D2MF-12127- is a good number for 1972 but none end in just A it should be FA EA GA or something like that or it is not D2MF. Scrubb it clean and use a magnifying glass! better yet, post a picture. LOL Sorry, Hawkrod

If I had to guess i would say it was a D2MF-12127-EA as it sure looks like there was a bottom arm on the missing letter (which is definitely there but blasted out by the rebuilder). The original app for that is a 1972 Galaxie or Torino N code 429 with a 4V IMCO and non-California. Really of very little value anyway and the damage done by the rebuilder really makes it worthless for a restoration part. Hawkrod

How can I tell if its a singe or dual points distributor? Can I run it in my F100 with the 460 for now?

Yes, you can run that dist as it is.

Look at how many sets of points are mounted on the breaker plate.

Yours has a single set of points.

Here is a dual point dizzy pictured below, so you can see the difference.

I feel kind of dumb that I asked that now. But points distributors were before my time, so it wasnt a bad question.
