302 questions

I got you engine whizzes a few questions. I got offered an 89 302 that is fresh machined the other day. My questions are :::
Will an 89 302 work with a 75 c4 auto?
Will 89 heads work with a 72 block?
With 89 heads on the 72, will my edelbrock z89 intake work?
I dont want to waste time on a useless engine, so if parts or whole wont interchange, I dont need it. Any info is great. Thanks guys.

the engien will bolt up to that trans. and i cant see any reason the heads wouldnt fit on a older block. i would think the intake would work.

they will all work providing you have the right balance of flywheel with the c-4 and backing plate for the c-4, i believe 74 had a different balance than 89.

89 302 used a 50oz imbalance flexplate. You'll have to find a C4 on for it. Usually Summit Racing is the source.

I cannot remember if it was the 351W or 5.0's that changed the number of intake mounting bolts on the intakes and heads. Bet it was the 351W but might have been both. It'll still work though just might confuse you. There might also be a difference in the intake gaskets around the water passages.
