69 300 4x4 oil pan- Dorman replacement???

Post by fomocoguy »

I need a picture of a stock original oil pan from a 1969 300 six equipped 4x4 (preferably F250). Do any of you have one of these or know where I can get a pic? It has to be a factory 1969 peice, NOT a new replacement pan. Thanks!

Well, the 300's the Bronco guys run would be different technically, but it would still be a rear sump pan, so it may work. My problem is I can't find a replacement pan 1969 4x4 rear sump pan, so I suppose I am going to have to just buy a newer pan and use a newer pickup tube. The eighties used a rear sump pan. I just want to be sure there is crossmember clearance, but I guess I won't know until it goes in...

You guys are funny... and dead wrong.

There was never a 300 in a Bronco... a 170, a 200 and a 250, but never a 300.

CB may have some infor from guys who have swapped them in, but they are just looking for a part that fits.

Good luck!

Yup. The little Broncos used the 144/170/200/250 family of I-6. Trucks used the 240/300.

Not to say one couldn't be swapped in, but they didn't come stock with the 300 until (if I remember right) the fullsize Broncos.

What are you talking about? The 300 was/is an incredibly common engine in the Broncos. And I've never heard of a Ford 250 in a truck. Learn me something new.

O.K.,

The original posters request was:
I need a picture of a stock original oil pan from a 1969 300 six equipped 4x4 (preferably F250).
So let us try to stick to that topic, not get personal and take the Bronco discussion to PM's if it needs to be continued.

After doing some research I have found that 1980 and up Broncos (no pot stirring or replies necessary), as well as Ford vans, 2wd trucks, and 4wd trucks all used a version of a rear sump pan when equipped with the 300. I may just go ahead and try one of these, but it's not exactly the same as the old rear sump that came in my year truck.

Ok, so here's my problem. I bought a Dorman pan that is SUPPOSED to be a stock replacement for 4wd's of my vintage. All their books show it for 4x4's and vans, and I called their tech dept just to have the guy scratch his head. He did let me know that they sold 30 of them in the last year with no calls or notes on their being a problem. So, can anybody confirm for me that they have a pan of this style in a 4x4 truck?

I think the curve in the front may clear the crossmember, but unless somebody can confirm it I will have to take some crude measurements and guess.

Either way, my hunt for the original style pickup tube was a waste...

Dunno if it would work better.

Thanks! That is probably the one I'm going to go with and just hope for the best. It can't be much different than the original....
