Depends on carb, gearing and whether you can keep your foot out of it. My dad's was getting 8-10

Im down to about 5 or 6 in town due to 411 gears, 3000 stall converter and the carb swap i did about a month ago. When it had the 370's and the 800cfm Holley it wasnt bad on the highway. Around 10 to 12 mpg if i was nice to it.

The 460 I have was in an 81 2wd when I bought it. C6 with 3.25 gears, Performer intake and 600 Holley VS. 10 mpg no matter how I drove it. Well, I usually didn't putt around. :D The 81 also weighs more than my 68 does, so I assume I will get about the same mileage. I always got 10 mpg with the 302 that's in it now, so I figure I might as well get a ton more power for the same mileage.
68 F-100 Short Box 2wd
302/c4/3.50
81 F-100 Long Box 2wd
460/c6/3.00
92 F-150 Lariat 4wd
302/auto couldn't go wrong for $500

429, edelbrock 750, 5" filter, everything else stock, 3.75 gears, 35" tires
about 11mpg (mostly downhill, because it was coming back from a race). so less than that.
I also have lots of weight, the 32gal. fuel cell was full, 3 or 4 spare wheels were in it, full cage, etc.
