Also, remember that without the trapeze linkage, if the left motor mount tears in half under full throttle the engine will lift up, pinning the throttle WFO. Don't ask me how I know this.

the truck has a 390 in it, it will be stock except for the headers and exhaust and the manifold and the carb. r u saying that i should just stick with the autolight 2bbl?

A 650 will be fine...

if you are running headers on a 390, a 4 bbl upgrade can only help
