Sand the dist. housing at the o-ring (with the o-ring removed) and the dist. hole in the intake with crocus cloth. That "metal" o-ring used to be rubber. Chop it off and replace it with the one that came in the gasket set.
Try not to get any sand debris into the engine....you might wear out the main bearings :D

Man, wouldn't that be a shame!!!

But with the precision fit of those bearings, even a speck of dust might destroy them!!! (Especially at high RPM's, say, 600 or so...)

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

TO update this thread, since this thread is basically the 360 "build" and installation thread.
This thread shows installation: http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... =3&t=46780
It is sitting where it should now and is half way bolted to the tranny. I need to pop the driveshafts in, hook some linkage up, some wiring, and it might even fire in a couple days...
That's when the countdown to destruction starts lol I wish i knew how many miles this thing had. Might be a record lol

To properly install the intake manifold you should start the bolts (leave them loose) and then install the distributor. There is quite a bit of play in the manifold, and the distributor should be what aligns it. So fully install the distributor and get it so it goes in and out easily before torquing the intake bolts. This is most likely why it's hard to get the distributor in and out. Other than that problem it probably will still work, although it is putting some side stress on the distributor and may cause wear in the bushings.

Oh no, bearing wear! I'd hate to wear my bearings lol

But really thanks for the tip, i didn't think about that. It's all torqued to spec now so i would have to loosen it back up.
Oh and i found a set of new (5) FE main bearings for $40 on craigslist. This guy has tons of similar parts. I might pick them up to put in this engine in the future.
