Any carb over 90,000 miles or 20 years is guaranteed to not be user rebuildable
as the throttle shafts are wore out and will have vacuum leaks you won't be able to fix because of that.
Iv'e never heard of a carb not being rebuildable over 90,000 as my truck has over 300,000 on it with the original carb. I rebuilt the carb put it back on the truck and it ran mint.

Good for your carb and you I can show you the worn shafts and if were to put another carb on from Holley or Tomco rebuilders I bet you would see your truck run better. AS you would have to remove your throttle plates and shaft to see the wear I do not expect anyone to ever see the physical damage. You can test for it spray carb cleaner on the shaft with a straw as the engine runs then let me know if the engine changed speed or not.

So did my wore out carbs but mileage sucked and sometime power sucked. I cold make them idle nice but not really run great at all rpms. Try the trick. I ran a Holley rebuilding service off the side of my race engine shop.

My buddy lent me his holley 1bbl carb to try out and I'd say that it ran a little bit better at idle but no difference in power, etc. I'll try that test but my trucks in storage right now.

Not right now but I am starting an FE engine shop again and I already have talked to Holley about getting virgin shafts and oillite bushings to rebuild the base plates.
