How do you jack the entire front end?
There was a comment awhile back on jacking both front wheels off the ground.
How do you go about it?

Re: How do you jack the entire front end?
If you have a big enough jack, the crossmember under the oil pan is plenty strong enough to hold it. But because of the drop of the suspension at the tires you've gotta get it pretty high in the center for the tires to clear. Be sure and have some jack stands under it for safety and chock the back tires.

No issue about the tires racking inward?

Re: How do you jack the entire front end?
That's what I was referring to about the "drop of the suspension". Yes, that is the issue with jacking up in the center. If I'm doing that I'll use 2 jacks, jack up the center, use another jack to raise an axle, insert jack stand. raise the other side, insert jack stand, lower jacks.

Re: How do you jack the entire front end?
I'm working on an adapter for my floor jack that will set under both bolt heads on the i beams so I can jack up the entire front end in one shot and will still keep weight on them - I'll post pics when I get it all sorted out!

Re: How do you jack the entire front end?
I bought a factory floor jack adapter many years ago at a local jockey lot .
Just remove the floor jack lift pad and put this adapter on, it has two rubber pads and the arms adjust out or in .
I can lift Old Red with the jack adapter under each king pin or adjust it to other points under my truck.
It is good to lift the rear end or even the side if needed.
I am not good with computers so no photos, but it is very simple.
It is made from approx. 2"x6" hollow, heavy metal about 3' long with welded fitting that inserts in the jack where the original jack pad was, with 2 extensions with the rubber pads , 1 extension slides in each end of the hollow metal with pin & holes to hold them in place.
I don't know what company made these adapters but they are very useful and handy to have around.
I am sorry I can't post phots or give a better description.
I hope some one that is more computer savvy can find the company and post photos and a link .
Good luck with your truck.

Mr Timachone, yes sir , that is similar to mine .
Thank you for the photo.
This is VERY useful not only for our bumps, but other uses around the garage.

You're welcome

I thought about that bar some time ago to have it for my passenger cars. With that bar you can lift one side fully up or the front or back - depends on the car.
Now with your post above I know I HAVE to buy it

Here in Germany there is a very reliable manufacturer named "BAHCO" - here is a set with a 3 ton floor jack, 3 ton jack stands and the bar for about 400 Dollars - I think that's a good deal:

3 ton capacity would be enough for our trucks or what do you think?

Re: How do you jack the entire front end?
Mr Timachone, I have a very long hydraulic jack that I use when I lift my truck , it will lift pretty high .
Make sure the jack you purchase will lift as high as you would like it too.
It sure is nice to have tools.
They pay for the cost of the tool by helping us do our own repairs.
Let us know how you come out.

If I have to lift the entire front end or rear end I hook my cherry picker to it

low and ugly 72 longbed with a 360 converted to a 401 with performer intake and a 750 double pumper carb 260 cam and headers with a c6 auto and stock 9 inch lowered about 5.5 /7.

Mr Arkrider,
the cherry picker is very handy too
.
I have a small one and a large one & both are very useful.
