I'm helping my son resurrect a '67 F100 w/352 and auto trans. It came with an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge. The
capillary tube is cut and coiled inside the cab and it has oil in it so I know it was hooked up at one time. People tell me the oil
pressure sender is on the oil filter housing front left. This bell shaped sender still has a wire attached to it ( haven't traced it
yet). I tried to unscrew it from the housing but it just spins and spins and won't unthread. Is this really the pressure sender or
a low oil/ low pressure switch? Reason I asked I have changed out oil pressure senders before on a 240 and a 289 and they have
the sender that requires the special sender socket to remove as 6 of the 12 points are 1" and the other 6 are 1 1/8'" (if memory
serves). I cannot find such a sender anywhere on the block. Thanks for your halp.
Mark

Re: Oil pressure sender
The sender on these FE engines is in fact on top of the filter housing, be it a switch type for "idiot lights" or gauge type.

Thanks for the info - now how do I get the darn thing to unthread when it just spins and spins?FreakysFords wrote:The sender on these FE engines is in fact on top of the filter housing, be it a switch type for "idiot lights" or gauge type.

With a wrench (11/16 I think) from the bottom side of the sender. The big 'bell shaped' senders are for gauges and the other ones are for 'idiot lights'.

Thanks. I thought about scoping out the underside of the sender to find out if there was a nut but it was raining and I'm 55 and my kneesForingaMex wrote:With a wrench (11/16 I think) from the bottom side of the sender. were hurting

the wrenching myself - I don't want to cheat him out of the joy of greasy hands, skinned knuckles, etc. I'm just getting up to speed on
the technical info so he will think I'm some kind of genius so thanks for the info.
