Carb flooding at Highway speed

Post by jmc1975 »

I was driving my 1970 F100 on a little road trip, when about 30 min into the trip then engine started to lose power. I made it to a gas station parking lot when the engine died. When I popped the hood fuel was pooring out of the carb. The engine is the 300 6 cylinder 1 barral carb. Any idea what would cause this?

Fuel inlet valve (needle valve) stuck open inside the carb.

Remove the float and needle valve, clean it out, reassemble.

Install a fuel filter in the fuel line leading to the carb.
