was wondering the best way to fix this, is there a oil i can buy ,,, seems like its getting worse,,could the oil pump cause this noise.
it runs good still , seems like i only hear it when i hit the gas ,, my carb is crap could it be pinging it to death casue its dumping fuel. sounds like its on the right side of engine

post a video liek you did showing the truck. that way we can hear it and help you. tapping sounds can be manyy things. from lifters exhaust leaks evena rod knock that hasnt complete developed yet. it could even be soemthing else. it could even be a slightly bent or worn push rod. that would cause the lifter to knock.

im hoping and i think my donuts on the exaust are going out. i replaced the left side. now i think other side is kaput ,,, on the passengers side, i only hope that what it is. ..

double check your igintion timing too

Take a piece of rubber tubing, stick one end up to your ear and use the other end to listen to areas all around the engine. I have what is called a mechanics stethoscope to do this.

yeah its hard to catch, happenes most when accelerating but when im cruising speed it goes away

Sounds like spark knock then. Back off the initial timing a couple of degrees or put a tank of mid grade or premium in it and see how it does
