460 mounts new info found

Post by fordman »

i saw a 460 in a 68 today. i was going to remove the mounts to sell them on ebay. well the engine had what looked like fe rubber moutns bolted to the enigne. and the regular fe perches. what is with that? is that real or were the rubber mounts just not bolted down to the engine. i couldnt see good enough to see the botls in the rubber mounts.

You can buy Trans Dapt conversion engine mounts which use your existing perches. Sounds like that's what you found in your truck. Here's a couple links to similiar-style mounts at Jegs:

Those mounts look so iffy to me. Like I wonder how good the rubber is bonded to the metal.

well after looking at boby ford pictures of his block mounts i think what they might have done is to use only one bolt in the top block boss to use the fe mounts. i will find out in a few days. i am going to pull that engine out right there in the junkyard. on way or another. so far i have the grill off. and that is it. i guess the hood is next.
