Exhaust: Amount of condense water left and right not equal?

Post by Florian »

Hey!

When my engine is cold and I start it condense water comes out of both exhaust tips, left and right. But there comes much more water out on the driver side than on the passenger side.

You can see it here:

Passenger:

What does that mean? Is my exhaust not even or is it clogged somehow? Or is this unimportant?

AHAAA!!!!!
Mine did the same thing. Only All on the drivers side and none on the passenger side.
Also, it was not cold, just idling for a little while. I'd been playing with the carb.
I had about as much as you on the driveway. I looked at what was in the pipe and could not figure out if it was water or antifeeze.
I can't seem to replicate it and I've got no water in the oil and the coolant is clean.
I hope it's just condensate.
I have dual exhaust with no cross connection.

I did also work ob the carb, adjusted the idle speed. I thought it was only condensate because the stain on the floor was gone the next day. I´ll check my oil and antifreeze tomorrow.

I am sure it is just condensation but not sure why one side is more than the other. Maybe one side is more open than the other I don't know but I wouldn't worry too much about it

Good day Florian!

Thanks for asking this question! If it means anything to you, I've noticed this same symptom in every vehicle I've driven that had dual exhaust, and I've always wondered about it, but never thought to ask.

Your photos are an excellent way to illustrate your question! I'm looking forward to hearing what causes this.

My motorhome does this very noticeably. When putting duals on it, I had to route the two sides a little different from each other. The complete exhaust system is VERY long, so it would hold tons of moisture. The right side has a much greater dip (low point) than the left and it always had more moisture to dump.

I ended up getting two cast iron "drain sections" (cast exhaust section with tiny drain hole in low spot) for tractors and installing them. Wouldn't go so far as to do this on my truck, but the motorhome sits for long periods of time and I didn't want to rust out my exhaust.

Not gonna say that's the answer of answer, but I suspect something simular.?.?
