Ford F250 72. 360 to 390

Post by cadillaccoo »

Hey

I been wanting to rebuild for a while now, and it looks like the engine is on its last leg. Was told you can go from a 360 to a 390. My pickup has a 360 in it now. But i am not sure were I would go to get rebuild kits and parts and all of the jazz. Also i am no mechanic and have not tools so how bad would this be for me???

You might be able to find the parts at summitracing.com. They have a lot of good stuff, and I'm not so sure how much work will be required. You might be able to just get an engine swap kit which would just replace the rubber motor mounts. I don't know if you meant 390 and I don't know if they are the same block. If they are then you just have to drop the other one in. Make sure the trans will work with the new motor too. Good luck.

360 block is a 390 block.

You'll need a rotating assembly for a 390 in addition to normal rebuild parts. You can probably score a 390 crank and rods from DSC motorsports or on the FE Forum, www.SummitRacing.com (among others) should have everything else you need.

This has by the way, been discussed quite a bit and a search would probably answer most of your questions.

What kind of budget are you looking at?
The reason I ask is there are some nice stroker kits out there that would bolt in to your block.
