They are brand new plug wires and plugs. He could be right though, I may not notice the miss at idle but I notice it in gear.

Ill check the plugs, what I am also going to do is take the hose off the intake to the modulator valve. Put it in gear, and if a miss happens then it has nothing to do with tranny at all. If it doesn't happen, than it is the modulator valve or something in the tranny. I will also try the vacuum gauge.

Alright here is what I did, I took unhooked the modulator valve. Put the vacuum gauge on. I adjusted the carb to get it to its highest vacuum. Which is at 18 hg/in or something like that. When in gear it drops way down, (which is to be expected). But it still misses even with the modulator valve not hooked up. When it gear it bounces quite a bit, but when in idle it has a very light bounce, maybe 1/4 of an hg/in. All the plugs were good and stuff. On the vacuum guage directions it says an occansional bounce may be that the tappets are not adjusted exactly right. So tell me what you think.

Have you tried to isolate the cylinder?

Its not a specific cylinder, it seems to be at random. I cant tell right now at idle because I have a major exhaust leak so its hard to hear.

How can you tell it's random? Are you sitting there counting how many times a cylinder fires? I highly doubt that. Take this advice or not:

Take the advice the others here are offering you for the unbelievable price of FREE. Actually read, re-read if needed, comprehend and then attempt to try it out. Or quit asking for more advice. When you ask for help, then take none of the steps to act on the advice that others are willing to offer, and then refute what they said, it's like spitting in their face.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but I'm tired of nobody talking about the giant pink elephant that is sitting in the corner of the room. I was young once too, and I understand that. I learned quickly though that if you don't listen to the advice from those who are in the know, they will quit taking their time to give any of that advice.

Oh, that pink elephant has been talked about before, a few times in fact...

What does
When in gear it drops way down
mean?

If it is 18hg and drops below 16hg something is wrong, but way down could mean anything...

Is this the 351 you put the cam in? If so I would be looking at valvetrain, tight valve or perhaps lobe going bad...

Yes in gear it should drop then climb back up as long as the throttle is not held open
