I never really crawled under the truck to see the freeze plug,my friend just handed it to me. So this weekend he asked me if I had messed with the truck,I just told him I didnt want to,but he persisted. So I went out and found that he had drained the water so it would NOT freeze! Then he pulled the breather cap to show me there was "water" in the oil....it was condensation!!! I was so angry that I didnt even check the dipstick! His story was he came out to start it and noticed a problem with the temp,so he shut it off. He never even started it! So this was all a JOKE...on ME! Well I guess the engine is still running just fine!
note to self: Self, check all ANTI-freeze in all vehicles!

What kind of payback do you have planned?

We did an experiment in chemistry lab once when I was in school. Cold water freezes faster than warm or room temperature water. I think one of the TV shows showed that also.
IF the engine has not been turned over and water is showing in the oil afrter a hard freeze you can bet a cylinder wall has busted.
Time for a 460!

You're right, Mythbusters proved that old BS tale to be wrong. The temperature of a liquid gradually drops until it freezes, so the colder it is to start with the faster it will freeze, duh.

Ah but tap water from an outlet that has a screen covering can be frozen faster. It gains compressed air from pumps and filtration systems. During it's fall from the faucet because the air leaves suspension and compression. Any gas decompressing cools at a much higher rate than it's at rest temperature. So as the water hits the ice cube tray it's temperature on impact in an ice cube tray is colder than it's pipe temperature.
