Summit carb question that's probably already been done.
This has probably been asked to death, but I haven't ran across it yet. Are Summit's carbs just updated 4100s? Looks like a 4100 turned to center hung plug adjustable floats and "double pumped".
Just wondering, it does look like a 4100 taken to the strip.
Anyone running one of them?

Which carb? I just looked one up for my truck to check out what you were talking about, but they only show a couple of Holleys for me.

You may be able to save a bit more if you're willing to get a holley factory refurbished carb. I bought a model 2100 list 4412 from holley that was refurbished and haven't had a bit of problem with it. Saved about 75 bucks on it too.

I've got a Holley.. .. .. .. Nothing in the world wrong with it. I've got a VERY nice Edelbrock, nothing in the world wrong with it (save for the mopar it's bolted to).
I just like the 4100. It's hard to beat! More over if this is indeed a "renovation" of the 4100 design, I could have something aftermarket that was still "Ford-ish".
It comes down to preference more often than not on carburetors. I love the Holley and I love the Eb (what the carter should have been), and I have nothing against a Q-jet (great carbs to tell the truth, and probably the most versatile of the three, but I can't put a part that screams GM on my Ford.
). But for anyone with much experience with the 2100 / 4100 carbs, anything else has quite a ladder to climb.
All that said, ATM my lil FE is breathin through a Holley, and it will until my engine build. My original intent was to just "work over" a 4100 to fit my needs (have a couple sets of 1.33 2100 venturies), but barring anyone's bad experience with Summit's version, I'll likely just go with that.
LOL still can't walk away from my 2100 / 4100s though, in fact I'm trying to get my hands on a few to "work over" and polish up for my own addiction

FWIW, this thing has got to be from the 4100, but I'm about to make a phone call to Summit and ask the stupid questions

OK, just got off the phone. The new Summit carb is in fact based from the 4100.They started with the original mold of the Holley 4010 (which Holley just updated from their design for Motorcraft 4100), but they fixed a couple "errors in the 4010, by going back to some of the 4100's original design features.
It's available in:
600 and 750 CFM (500, 650, and 850 versions are in discussions atm and possibly further into the realm of performance only on down the line)
Mechanical or vacuum secondaries
Manual or Elec choke
Single or dual "pumped" (30cc progressive)
Basically what he was getting at is that it is in fact the 4100 stepped up, but since licensing came from Holley rather than FoMoCo, they deem it a derivative of the 4010.
I'm not to the point yet to actually buy a carb, in fact I'm just now compiling my parts list for the 410 (ish) build, but I'm now certain that I'm gonna give the Summit carb an honest shot
