This is just a question, but:

Could you not take the external balance flywheel and have it neutral balanced?

Yeah, you can build this truck. I built a 67 Tow truck the same way 20 years ago when there was not nearly so much info. All you need to do is use the D7T bellhousing and make a spacer for it out of steel plate, use the 390 flywheel, buy an aftermarket flywheel or rebalance the newer one (all are viable options). and it will go together. When I built mine I got very lucky as I got a bellhousing and flywheel from a Torino 429 (which I still have and hold onto for this very reason!) but the rest was pretty easy. I did have to make my own block side pivot for the clutch equalizer bar but you have to mount the engine first to figure out where it needs to go. The rest is just normal stuff. I also have a 77 1/2 F250 extended cab 4X4 that I have a swapped 460 and NP435/205 in and I did it the same way, it is very doable. Hawkrod
