Machine Shop - Dallas / North Texas

Post by 1972F100 »

Hi All!

Looking for a good, reputable machine shop in DFW / North Texas area to perform overhaul work on my engine. Would be most comfortable with a shop that was very familiar with the FE series. If you've used a shop in the area and was satisfied, would appreciate the info!

Thanks

Although I've not used them, Keith Craft has a shop in Plano. Not sure if they will just do machine work or not.

I used Jeff's Performance Automotive in Sherman, TX. They specialize in SBC and do quite a bit of SBF stuff, from what I understand, so they weren't 100% familiar with the FE puculiarities like the oiling mods. I went over them with the guys there, and they did everything top notch. Pretty reasonably priced, too. They did my block mods, .030 over, aligned and honed, balanced the rotating assembly, and assembled the short block. They also worked the heads over- I did the porting and polishing, but they did everything else. All in all I was very pleased.

Everyone I talk to has said to take them to Calvert Precision Engines in Denton. I have heard nothing but good about them. I also recommend Eagle Transmission in Denton. They rebuilt the E4OD in my '92 F150 and that thing is bulletproof!!
