noise when I hit the gas

I seem to recall somebody saying something like:

Find a friend who believes in timing lights before you start cleaning pistons out of the oil pan...

Seriously, stop driving/running it NOW and figure out what is wrong with it.

You are going to blow the motor up if you haven't already!

I know I'm starting to sound like my father here, but if you want good advice you are going to need to start with a nice well thought out post explaining the nature of the problem, conditions under which it occurs and any additional descriptive information (a good description of what the noise sounds like in this case). When someone responds and asked a question for clarification, that clarification would be of benefit.

Simply continuing to ask similar questions in new threads is unlikely to gain anyone (you included) much insight into your problem.

A noise that gets louder with more throttle. Rod and Main bearing noise does that. Piston slap does that. Lifters do not do that They are just noisy and change in speed with rpm not power increases.

Gapping the plugs would not change knock unless the gap was so large that the plugs could not fire.

Low oil well I am the king when it comes to low oil noise. If the noise goes away when you add oil and it is not a tappet you need bearings, Bad. Also do the oil restrictor trick to the heads so more oil stays low.

As soon as my truck gets 2 qts down one tappet screams bloody tappity tappity tap. I have several leaking tappets that will get the axe when I change the cam, but first I need to get back to work.

They were pre gapped just not for your engine. They would have been gapped for the Duraspark. .040 to .045

make a video of it and post it on here. It could be determined more easily. I know this sounds stupid but it has happened before, check to see if the flexplate is tightened down all the way. A broken one can still work even if its broken off. More likely a flexplate bolt could be just a little loose and it is hitting the housing. Sometimes its the thing that you will never think of.

Were the windshield wipers on? Because everytime I have mine on, i hear a ding, ding, ding. because theres something in the way that it keeps tapping. It could be many things, but this was a sound that most people would never think to be LOL.
