Considering installing surplus rebuilt 351 Windsor engine from a 1969 vintage mustang into my 1967 F250.
Would this swap make sense, is this motor compatable with the NP 435 tranny ? Any motor mount issues ? Performance ?
Or should I stay with the original 352 which ran ok before the restoration.(needs new carb, manifolds, milage 90,000)

What are your intentions with the truck? How many miles on the 351W? If you do this, you'll need to hunt down a smallblock bellhousing.
If the 352 ran okay before the resto...why get rid of it?

There won't be any motor mount issues while your putting it in, it will use the 302 brackets. But certain headers/exhaust manifolds wont work with power steering. Just use stock manifolds and you will be fine. You may have a rough time putting on the pipes. The 351w will push a truck hard and fast. At least mine does, but I'm running 235hp boat motor. But if you ever have any questions about install or any/most internal of a 351w just ask me. Dunno about the tranny, I'm running a c4.

i have no idea what i should say to sway you one way or another. you will need a different bellhousing if you do the swap.

My 352 in my 67 F-250 had 240K on the bottom end. I did have to rebuild the heads. But the stock bottom end and still runs great just ask 2 bit. Just no body left to it :0)

Any engine will last long, if you do the proper maintence. My family has driven 3-4 vehicles with 400,000 miles on them. You just need to do the proper maintence.

I would keep with the old 352 then, especially if it runs great! Why go through the extra work of swapping in a different engine family if you have a good that works?hotrodfeguy wrote:My 352 in my 67 F-250 had 240K on the bottom end. If what is in there is running good, stick with it.
Now if you bought a truck with no drivetrain to speak of...have at it.
