I like the method of milling both surfaces flat (head and header) and sealing up without a gasket.

Re: Leaking headers, best gaskets?
I've had the same problem but only with the driver side. I've tried Mr Gasket and Felpro and both have leaked. The passenger side does fine. There is not enouhg room to get the header out to really look at it.

Hmm I checked the website, seems they dont have a eight bolt 390 gasket set? All I see is 16 bolt.

Good evening Darrman!
I used Remflex gaskets on my 390. Here's the thread where they were suggested to me (several other excellent gaskets were also discussed in this thread): http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =3&t=43852
And the thread that shows them being pulled apart (due to an unrelated problem): http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =3&t=45367

Re: Leaking headers, best gaskets?
I had the same problem, I fixed it by using two felpro gaskets on each header, also after I put the exhaust back together I let the motor run for about ten min. Then re-tightened the bolts while everything was hot. Wear heat resistant gloves and watch your forearms...

Re: Leaking headers, best gaskets?
Victor-reinz gaskets. Bead of hi temp (copper) silicone around the port, both sides. Let silicone skin over for about 15 min & assemble. Check the bolts for the 1st 100 miles or so. Used this method a bunch..never had any problems.
