Fuel Tank for 67 F100 Short bed ?

Post by stanghead »

Hi Guys.

I am in the process of a ground up restro of a 67 F100 short bed 2wd. It has 3 speed on the column in perfect shape. I'm tall so I removed the gas tank behind the seat for more leg room. My delima is I need a gas tank thay fits in the rear on the frame. Does anybody have a clue what tank will fit back their?

The truck has been lowered, took out the 352 and installed a 390 w/4barrel. Put front disc brakes on. The truck shows 42,000 miles and looks original. No secondary paint anywhere.

If anybody could help I will greatly appreciate it. :?

Do a search and you'll have plenty of reading...this topic has been covered many times in the recent past.

In short, you can either use a factory in-frame auxiliary fuel tank (mounts along the left-side frame rail) as a primary tank, or use a Mustang tank. The factory auxiliary tank will be a bolt-on, the Mustang tank will require fabricating a mounting frame and cutting a filler tube access hole in the bottom of the bed.

Removing the in cab tank will not give you more leg room. The seat only goes back so far regardless of the tank or not.
