Found: Old school Holley carb

Post by papabug71 »

I was at the inlaws today looking thru one of the numerous junk piles & came across a pile of old carbs. Mostly QuadraJet's & a couple of Autolite 2100's. But the one that got my attention was this one. Its a Holley 4bbl, single inlet. I bet its been sitting out in the weather for 20+ years. Im afraid all it is now is an old Holley paperweight.

It has a FoMoCo tag on it that reads: C3TE F A 3ED
It has a Ford # on the air horn that reads: C3TE-9510-F
& it also has a Holley PN that reads: 2151-1

Any of you guys that can decode the #'s please feel free to do so. All I can get is 63' truck, engine.

Yeah thay are froze up pretty good. The guys at pony carbs said if it will move, they can rebuild it. Im going to let it sit in a bucket of solvent for a couple of weeks & see what happens.

What motor did Ford put in a truck in 63' that required a carb this big ??

Hi. I came across one of these carbs a few years back. The one I found came off of a big Ford(F600?) truck. That big mechanism on the side is a governor assy. Can't remove it because it's made into the base plate.

That would explain alot of things. They have 4 or 5 old F-600's/750's running around, & they were all converted to propane years ago.

Yeah, it's a governed big truck carb. Not worth much by itself, but probably worth parting out. I have one down in the shed from somewhere.

Cool beans. I knew it was an older carb at first glance with the old Holley lettering & all. Too bad its all locked up.

Back in the day, that carb was on all our 534 CuIn equipped larger C Models we had in the fleet.

Im not sure of the CFM on it. :hmm:

fmartin_gila1, I forgot all about the monster 534 Ford put in the big trucks. Alot of the old peanut trucks around here had that motor.

I wonder if you could change the base out with a non-governed base ?

I polished it up last night. Looks good. & it works great as a door stop !!
