Just found out that the 68 I bought has a 352 motor. The emblem on the side of the truck says 390, so that is what I thought it had. Is the 352 Motor a good one and should it be better on gas? The dog gone thing sounds good. Don't matter to me a whole lot about the size of the motor I was just curious. To be honest I haven't ever heard of a 352. Just wonder what others think...
why do you think its a 352? because of the number stamped on it? if so that number means nothing about the actual size of the engine. check the stroke of the engine to determine the actual size of the engine. i can't remeber the stroke length for a 390 right now so you'll have to measure it and tell us what it is.
3.75 i do believe is the stroke. 352 and 360 had a 3.50 inch stroke.
when i cleaned my engine from all the grease i found the orginal engine tag still bolted down
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can. http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u223/imabaka70/ Projects listed on the left side
WOOOT!! i passed my mechanics classes. Now working as a mechanic and waiting to go for my ASE certifications.
The mechanic said he saw it on the front of the motor. The VIN # has and H which means a 390 came in the truck. The 352 was offered in the 67 but not the 68, 69, 70, 71. Could my mechanic be wrong?
yes the mechanic doesn't know anything. that is a casting number only. and thank you steve i was thinking about the bore and could even think about the length. it is 3.78 fo ra 390 and 3.50 for a 360.
like the other guys are sayin, 352 is a universal stamp on the front of these engine. i have a 71 and had a 70 with stock 360's in them but had the 352 stamp on it. you can't judge a book by the cover. like fordman said, you will have to check the stroke to truely find out.
